Why do we love pie so much? It’s sweet filling, flaky crust are good but most of all, it’s shared! Even if you don’t have a sweet tooth and hate pie, the idea of sharing a slice of pie with someone who cares about you is appealing right? Sitting with someone who is genuinely interested in you, someone who believes in you, someone who is listening sounds like a dream. God designed the Church to be filled with people committed to sharing and supporting one another.

Jesus makes a statement in John 14:15 “If you love me, obey my commandments.” He doesn't say this to instill fear, but our obedience is our token of our love for Him. Ultimately, we're serving others, loving others, and giving our lives away because of Christ. We’re doing whatever we’re doing or “doing this'' for Him. Thankfully, being obedient to Christ doesn’t just transform my life, it impacts generations beyond me.

Jesus’ triumphal entry to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday is what many saw as a victory march. We see from scriptures that his greatest test was fast approaching and he would need endurance the next week to seal his victory, which would ultimately seal our victory. How did he do it? Think of our President, you can’t just walk up to him. Think of a Head of State or the Queen of England, you can’t just walk up to them, there’s protection, preferences, and procedures – Let’s translate that to God, who is much more IMPORTANT and POWERFUL – If He is KING of KINGS (which he is), He’s going to at least have preferences or even outline procedures for when we enter His courts and presence. Yet, He’s willing to give ANYONE access, which separates Him for all others. What a mighty King we worship.

The Lent season is a time of observance, reflecting on the life of Christ and how we’re invited into the story. When it comes to God and His involvement in our lives, we all have a natural reflex, to worship or to anything else. However, when we put ourselves in the story and truly translate that to our lives, the natural reflex is to bring gratitude and thankfulness in all things.

You’ve heard the phrase draw near to me, but what does it mean? Does it mean to come? Sure. BUT to draw near means to deny anything vying for your attention or ability to abandon yourself only unto Him. Come and draw near to God in this season.

There’s something so special about the redeeming love of Jesus. The whole concept of God’s identity is to draw us close, get on our level, and restore us to our predestined seat next to the Father while experiencing all his benefits. We were lost, but then found. There’s nothing like it!

The Church of Jesus Christ was God’s idea. If the church is functioning the right way, she is full of sinners and sinners sometimes act like sinners. Becoming Saints is immediate, acting like Saints can be a process. With that in mind, Of course the church is going to be messed up … BUT so what! She (the Bible references the Church as Christ’s Bride) is the greatest force for hope, good news, and good works on planet earth. By the way, you belong to her, because you are her. Today, I’m going to prove it to you.

The initial mark of becoming a disciple. Initially, we receive Christ and become a Christian. However, baptism is the first real step of obedience as a disciple and this act weaves into other areas of our Christian journey.
